Nestled within the Cairngorms wilderness and with easy access to Aviemore, our self-catering lodge and cottages offer the perfect escape for family holidays, retreats and events.
Unwind, stoke your fire, re-connect and breathe deep.
Go barefoot on the lawn, pick a hammock, toast your toes and slow right down.
Allow your ears to ring with silence amongst the trees.
Make yourself at home.
We are a 'Good to Go' venue and have in place all additional measures to make your stay safe and full of freedom and fresh air!
Made, Gathered and Grown from as close to the Dell as possible, our home is yours for this while and we want to make this really easy for you.
We now have our own little Grocer on site which is open Monday - Saturday (via walkie talkie) and is stacked with easy oven meals, delicious wine, fresh sourdough most Fridays, holiday treats and all the essentials. Also a piping hot espresso machine for your morning pick me ups and icy cold wine for sundowners.
You can also pre-order your groceries with 48 hours notice and we can make sure your cottage is stocked for your arrival. Tasty things to throw in the oven, fun meal kits to get the kids involved or grazing platters to share around the fire with a carefully matched wine.
We have brought together some of our favourite local producers, stuff you won't find with the big guys, each showcasing our unique local larder.
The Dell is a peaceful retreat just on the edge of Nethy Bridge, ‘The Forest Village’ - a sleepy, friendly place reached by riverside walk or through the endless trails of the Abernethy Forest. The RSPB Osprey Centre at Loch Garten is just a 10 minute drive, to the north, the wild Moray Coast beaches and to the south, the heart of the Cairngorms. The Dell is an hour from Inverness airport, 20 mins from Aviemore train station and around 3 hours north of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
‘Music is at the heart of all that we do here at The Dell’ ... It’s our rhythm, our soundtrack and the way in which we connect with each other, our guests and our community. Our plan is to continue to bring a regular culture of music and community to our unique Tipi space in the woods. But with the ever increasing costs, and lack of funding from support organisations, we need your help x
After the roaring success of last year, we are so excited to be bringing back the 'Gather Inn', our Friday night pub night in the tipi.
A space for you to unwind on a Friday evening and kick off your weekend in the right way, we'll even have cold frothy draft beer on rotation by the brilliant organic Black Isle Brewery!
The tipi has always been the perfect space for gathering and enjoying a drink around the fire, but to top it off we will be joined (most Fridays) by 'Highland Slice' serving up tasty pizzas from his gorgeous horsebox. You can pre-order with Andrew from the Tuesday prior through his website but he does sell out quick!
We don't take bookings for the Gather Inn, just turn up, we have plenty of seats inside and out, kids welcome until 8pm.
Our 'Gather Inn' nights will run from the beginning of April to the end of October, minus the odd Friday where we have other events running . A friendly reminder that if you're coming with kids, please keep them supervised at all times, particularly on the play area.
The Gather Inn will NOT be running on the following dates:
29th August, 4th and 18th September
We are very excited to welcome back Will Hamer of Wild Kabn Kitchen for the first instalment of our 2025 supper club series. Will's unique and wonderful open fire style of cooking allows you to explore the connection between food, fire and nature in the beautiful surroundings of the ancient pine forest here at The Dell. They will be offering up a beautifully curated 5 course meal cooked over the fire which celebrates local Scottish produce, in particular venison from right here in the Abernethy forest. The bar will be run by ourselves with a wide selection of soft drink, beers, wines and a cocktail or two for good measure. For more information and to book a place, please do get in touch
We are so delighted to be hosting Three Inch Fools here again for what's set to be a truly uplifting and energetic night of music, story telling and rip roaring hilarity. Elizabethan theatre is flourishing. But will a brand-new Tudor musical romp, in which Good Queen Bess takes to the stage herself, be the making of this heroine or spell the beginning of her downfall? The stage is set for regicidal rivalries, devious dramatics, and plotting playwrights. Beset by misunderstandings and a script that…let’s just say…needs some work, this production promises to be largely historical, always hysterical. A definite fun for all the family!
The performance will be on our lawn at The Dell with plenty space for you to bring your picnic rugs and deck chairs. You are very welcome to bring your own food, but we will be running a bar so no BYOB.
