As you enter Nethy Bridge from the South, turn right after the playing fields and village shop and keeping the river on your left continue up Dell Road for 1 mile. Leave the village behind and with grazing fields on either side you will see the Dell on the left in amongst the trees. Postcode PH25 3DL.
Parking for East, Little and West Dell are on the left as you come down the drive and South Dell around the corner on the left before you pass through the gates to Dell Lodge.
Below you'll find some of our favourite places to eat, walk and aclimatise on route to the Dell.
From the South
If you're driving north on the A9, a fantastic place to stretch your legs is the Hermitage just after Dunkeld. A beautiful network of ancient paths leading to a spectacular waterfall.
For an incredible food hall, tweed galore and an indulgent lunch, stop in at the famous House of Bruar, just over an hour south of The Dell. Just as you come into Aviemore, down by the Spey you'll find the Old Bridge Inn, excellent food, great craic and live music, a real locals pub. You'll then pass through Boat of Garten where you'll find Anderson's, a warm, family run bistro with family friendly menus, pie nights and an amazing Sunday Roast.
From the North
If you're travelling from Inverness, the airport or further north we'd always recommend coming across the Dava Moor on the A939 which gives an incredible, wild introduction to the Cairngorms and offers plenty of stunning spots such as Dulsie Bridge, Logie Steadings or Lochindorb to stretch your legs. This road brings you in via Grantown-on-Spey which is our local town and boasts a lively high street packed with independant shops, delis, cafes, a wonderful bookshop and all you need to stock up on your local groceries. Towards the bottom of the main street you'll find the High Street Merchants serving the best coffee, lunches and weekend suppers in town.
We're over the moon that we now have the Nethy house Cafe in the village, a new and very welcome addition with gorgeous, bright scandi interior with delicious lunches and home baking.
On a Thursday night the local fish and chip van, The Fry Shack, parks up outside the village shop
Grocery Shopping
We'd always recommend shopping local when possible and there are some great options for this on the doorstep.
We now have our online Dell Grocer, made, gathered and homegrown from around the Dell, championing local producers and making it easy for you. Give us 48 hours notice and we will stock your cottage for arrival.
Balliefurth Farm shop is open in the village Monday-Saturday 9 - 4.30pm, supplied by its neighbouring farm boasts exceptional meat, steak pies, fresh vegetables and a great selection of deli items. They now offer a next day delivery service if you call (01479) 821245
There is a also a Spar Grocery shop in the village open each day from 8am-6pm and they will also offer a next day delivery service if you email your order to ayoung2345@aol.com
We are visited at the Dell each Wednesday at 10am by the local fish van who brings in really nice fresh fish from the Moray coast.
