With Nethy Bridge village only 20 minutes away via riverside walk, forest wander or scenic amble, The Dell is the perfect base for exploring the Cairngorm National Park and beyond. Alongside a well stocked village store, there is a fantastic butcher, ‘Mr Mustard's’ offering wonderful local meats and a good selection of fresh vegetables. Fill your day with trails around the village or for the more sporty enjoy the tennis court, bowling green, beautiful 9 hole golf course or swimming pool all found locally.
The gardens and woodlands at The Dell are a wonderland for little ones. Our Faery wood is now home to Harris’s den, stripy hammocks and the infamous Hobildigob trail. Our newly installed zip line carries them through the trees and there are chances to explore their imagination at every turn.
The Dell is perfectly positioned to explore the Cairngorm National Park and beyond. Within an hour you can be at the top of Cairngorm Mountain, on a Moray Coast Beach or in the midst of the best Speyside whisky trail.
The Cairngorms National Park is a haven for wildlife. Capercaillie, Pine Marten, Red squirrel, Golden Eagle, White tailed eagle, Wildcat, Crossbill, Roe Deer, Badger, Owl, Mountain Hare, Common Lizard, Crested Tits, Brambling, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Bullfinch, Siskin, Long-tailed Tit, Starling, Tree Creeper... The list goes on.
For a guaranteed up and personal encounter with wildlife, The Cairngorms Reindeer Herd are a joy to see at the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre. They are Britain’s only free-ranging herd, with around 150 of them roaming the steep slopes of the mountains. Alternatively, you can head to the Loch Garten RSBP Nature Reserve where you are sure to spot a wide range of local animals or engage in family activities and daily talks. We are also incredibly fortunate to have teamed up with 'Instinct Guides' here at the Dell. You can find out more here:
“Yet often the mountain gives itself most completely when I have no destination, when I reach nowhere in particular, but have gone out merely to be with the mountain as one visits a friend with no intention but to be with him.”
Since the sixties the Dell has been a constantly evolving project running through three generations. The need for a challenge runs through our blood and we are constantly searching out how to better our guests' experience and our own time in this dear old place.
The Dell is an hour from Inverness airport, 20 mins from Aviemore train station and around 3 hours north of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
